Tanner Bixler
I am a 2nd generation firefighter living in San Diego, CA with my family. I am not rich by any means, nor experienced in the world of investing. I am however, committed toward bettering the life of my family, one investment at a time.
Committed to Growth
One call and investment at a time…
Being a firefighter is an incredible profession. It affords you the opportunity to take direct action in helping people during their darkest hours. It is challenging yet rewarding work. It demands the very best from people in the worst of times. It builds a culture of resiliency, camaraderie and commitment to excellence. Armed with knowledge obtained through an intensive basic fire academy and on the job training and experience, there are few emergencies a team of competent firefighters can’t handle. With proper knowledge, a cool head and strategic commitment of finite resources, the impossible is achieved. This happens on a daily basis nation wide by your hard working first responders.
Despite this, many firefighters are struggling financially. Many firefighters can’t even afford to live in the communities they protect. Local, state and federal budgets are strained and for many agencies, pay raises are out of the question. For a group of resilient emergency workers, the enormous challenge of how to financially survive has emerged. We are left with two choices: complain or do something about it. The best firefighters I know control their environment and capitalize on it. Relentlessly. This blog seeks to bring financial education to the firefighting community.
I fundamentally believe many of the lessons learned on the fire ground translate well into investing and understanding economics. In this blog, my goal is to decode the world of finance and economics and put it in terms firefighters can appreciate. Along the way, I will share my own personal story towards financial freedom and personal growth. It is my sincere hope that this blog does some good for some of my fellow first responders. Enjoy.
